Banning Youth Basketball Program Begins Outreach For Skills Clinics
A Co-ed basketball league for kindergartners through 8th graders is coming in early January, thanks to the Parks and Recreation Department.
BANNING, CA — The Banning Parks and Recreation Department invites residents to sign their young players up for the new Co-ed League Basketball team. Players can register for $40 each and receive a t-shirt and a participation award.
Coaches will hold assessments on Dec. 17 to determine skill level.
Sign-ups are due by Dec.16, according to organizers, and teams will be divided into groups of:
- Kindergarten
- 1st/2nd Grade
- 3rd/4th Grade
- 5th/6th Grade
- 7th/8th Grade
Volunteers are needed for coaching and refereeing as well, according to a city spokesperson. In advance of youth basketball team sign-ups, be sure and take part in skills clinics at the community center.

At the Basketball Skills Development clinic, players ages 12 to 15 will learn conditioning, dribbling, shooting, passing, decision making, defense and rebounding, necessary skills for player development.
