Beaumont AYSO Titans Are Busy Winning
The 14-to-16-year-old boys soccer team has won one tournament and had strong finishes in others this spring.
You can call them “The Boys of Fall,” but the AYSO Titans from Beaumont saved their best play for the spring.
Their schedule alone is enough to make your leg muscles burn just reading it. The group of 14-to-16-year-olds from Region 641 has played 14 games in 21 days and captured 1 championship, two second-place finishes, a third-place and two fourth place finishes.
Last weekend, they reached the title game in the prestigious Top Gun Tournament in San Diego. They lost to a team from Chino Hills, 3-1, in the finals, but were praised for their high caliber of play by the tournament directors.

Year-round soccer is nothing new to them, as most of them also play for Beaumont High School during the winter high school soccer season. They rejoin their travel team in the spring and travel throughout Southern California for tournament play.
Simply qualifying for the Top Gun Tournament was an accomplishment, as they had tried before but never made the cut. After losing their first game, 1-0, they roared through the tournament bracket.

They won their second game, 2-1, despite one of their players accidentally scoring a goal for the other team.
On Sunday, they started early, playing their first game to a 2-2 tie. In order to continue outright, they needed to win their next game by three goals or more. They won, 2-0, but qualified for the semifinals because a team that was ahead of them lost.
The semifinals began on Memorial Day Monday, with the Titans winning, 3-1, and advancing to the title game.
