Beaumont, Banning Remain Under Heat Advisory: Weekend Forecast

Temperatures in the Pass Area could top 114 degrees. Here's what to expect and some ideas on staying cool during this heat warning.

BEAUMONT, CA — Pass Area and Coachella Valley residents can expect another day of Heat Advisories and Excessive Heat Warnings, according to the National Weather Service.

The Heat Advisory includes both San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys across the Inland Empire, including the cities of Beaumont, Banning, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ontario, Moreno Valley, Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, and Corona.

Dangerously hot conditions have prompted the National Weather Service to issue an extended Excessive Heat Warning for the Coachella Valley and parts of Riverside County today through 8 p.m. Friday for Indio, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Coachella, and Borrego Springs with temperatures expected between 112 and 117.

During the excessive heat warning, residents should do their best to drink lots of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the direct sun.

"Check up on relatives and neighbors," meteorologists said. "Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances."

Along with the warning came a list of extra precautions to take if you work or spend time outside.

  • When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
  • Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
  • Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.
  • To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
  • Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

For residents elsewhere in the Inland Empire, temperatures will be hot and, in some cases, windy during the afternoon.

High temperatures from 100 to 107 in the Temecula Valley area and across the Inland Empire. The Coachella Valley was expected to be extremely hot and windy. High temperatures would reach anywhere from 113 to 117 degrees Friday into Saturday, along with warm and windy conditions.

In the San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountains, residents can expect a mostly sunny and windy day through Friday, with highs from 93 to 102 degrees.
