Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Beaumont Street, Road Closures In Place

BEAUMONT, CA —A pedestrian was struck and killed early Wednesday morning in Beaumont, prompting road closures in the area, police say. First Street between Michigan Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue was closed in both directions due to the deadly crash.

Beaumont Police Department responded to a reported traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on East 1^st Street, west of Pennsylvania Avenue. There, they found a man who sustained major injuries after being struck by a vehicle, according to Beaumont Spokesperson Julie Van Hook.

"Despite the efforts of responding emergency medical personnel, the individual was pronounced deceased," Hood said. "Based on the preliminary investigation, there were no immediate indications that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation."

The Beaumont Police Department's Traffic Division has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Portions of East 1st Street remain closed between Pennsylvania Avenue and Maple Avenue to allow investigators to safely process the scene.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes until the roadway is reopened.
