Beaumont Baby Dies At Local Hospital, Police Say

Police say an autopsy has been ordered in the child's death.

BEAUMONT, CA – A Beaumont infant died this week at the Banning hospital and the cause of death is now under investigation, officials report.

According to Beaumont police, the child – whose name, age and gender are not being released – was taken to San Gorgonio Medical Center on Wednesday morning.

"The medical staff reported that an infant had been transported to the Emergency Department by the family who resides in the City of Beaumont," police said. "Unfortunately, medical intervention and life saving measures were unsuccessful and the infant died at the hospital."

Details surrounding the circumstances of the baby's death weren't being released, as police say they are investigating what happened.

"As with any death investigation, the Riverside County Sheriff's Coroner and Riverside County District Attorney's Office were notified," police said. "At this time, the cause of death is undetermined and officials have ordered an autopsy."
