Beaumont Library District Expands Bilingual Collection for Children with $7500 Grant

Hundreds of items have been added for children from preschool to sixth grade

Beaumont Library District now has hundreds of new bilingual materials for children from preschool to sixth grade thanks to a $7500 grant from the California State Library. The funding was part of the California Immigrant Alliance Project through which titles were selected, purchased, processed and added to the shelf.

The majority of the items will be English/Spanish and a significant number will be in English/Chinese, but eight other languages will be covered in some way, including Korean, Russian, Hindi, Farsi, Khmer, Arabic, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. The grant more than doubles the current bilingual collection which is available to anyone interested in teaching languages to children.

Beaumont Library, a California Special District independent of both city and county government, provides library services to Beaumont and Cherry Valley and is located at 125 E. Eighth Street in Beaumont. Call 951-845-1357 or visit bld.lib.ca.us for more information.
