Beaumont Man Killed, Three Hurt in I-10 Freeway Wreck [UPDATED]

The man, identified as a local resident, was killed in an early morning crash near the 60 interchange, according to fire officials.

BEAUMONT, CA - A man was killed Monday morning and three other people were injured in a crash on Interstate 10 in Beaumont.

The crash on the eastbound 10 at the interchange with the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway was reported at 2:20 a.m., said Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

William Gemmell, 35, of Beaumont, died at the scene, according to the county coroner's office.

Firefighters also extricated two trapped patients, Hagemann said.

"A total of four patients received injuries, two of which were serious," she said. All were taken to area hospitals.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the crash and closed the connector road for a time. The interchange was reopened at 5:38 a.m.
