Beaumont Police Nab 'Career Criminal' Thanks to Quick Acting Witness
Police say a local resident spotted suspicious activity, and called 911.

BEAUMONT, CA- Beaumont police say they’ve arrested a “career criminal” who tried to steal a vehicle in town— after having stolen another one in Pomona.
According to jail records, 33-year-old Joseph Shaver was arrested Tuesday in the area of Beaumont Avenue and Brookside.
Police say that Shaver was spotted around 6:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Cougar Way, trying to steal a car. Someone saw his attempt, and called the agency.

“The suspect fled on foot after he couldn’t get the vehicle started,” police said. “Beaumont Police Officers responded to the area and located a subject that fit the description given by the witness.”
When officers arrested the man, he was identified by the the witness, and found to be in possession of another stolen vehicle which he allegedly took in Pomona, according to police.

“Shaver is a career criminal who is currently on probation for grand theft auto,” police added. “Thank you to witnesses who immediately called in the suspicious activity which resulted in a quick response from our officers.”
As of Thursday morning, Shaver remained locked up at the Banning jail, according to online records.
