Beaumont Spirit Run Overcomes Funding Obstacles to Aid Beaumont Unified School District
The annual Beaumont Spirit Run took place on Saturday, September 25th with 478 participants.
Beaumont, Calif.— The annual Beaumont Spirit Run powered up for another successful race in its quest to support all 11 schools in the Beaumont Unified School District on Saturday, September 24th. Since 2010, the Pass Area community has gathered in the Fall to participate in the event which includes 1K Kid’s Run, 5K Run/Walk/Stroller and 10K competitive run. Sponsored by the Beaumont – Cherry Valley Rotary Club, the annual run had a rocky start this year as the organizers learned they would only receive one half of the permit fee waiver.
“We were lucky enough to get one half of the fee waived, but were in jeopardy of not having the funds to pay the remaining balance,” said Steven Leach, Event Chair. “Pardee Homes saved our year by paying the balance and that has allowed us to use the money raised for our schools. Pardee saved the day and we are so very appreciative of their generous support. The funds that are generated by this event are given to our local schools through a grant process to provide funding for activities that would otherwise not exist.”
More than 800 people came out for Spirit Run, with 478 participants held at the Don Smith Football Stadium. In addition to Pardee Homes, other sponsors included Beaver Medical Group, State Farm Candy Cabanas, IEHP, Waste Mgmt. and 16 other financial and in-kind donors. The Beaumont-Cherry Valley Rotary Club has been active in providing physical and financial support for the community and surrounding areas for 50 years. With ‘Service Above Self’ as its motto, the object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the idea of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.
