Beaumont Students Train With Local Urgent Care, Gain Medical Skills

BEAUMONT, CA — All Valley Urgent Care - Calimesa is helping students gain experience in public medicine, especially when it comes to providing quality service, partnering with Beaumont High School’s career and technical education program.

The clinic is located at 1044 Cherry Valley Boulevard, Suite 430, in Calimesa. The owners of the medical clinic joined up with Beaumont High School due to its successful outcomes providing externships to medical assistant students from the Beaumont Adult School since the clinic opened in 2024, according to Co-owner and clinical manager Krysta Tankersley, RN.

Students Yvette Acevedo and Karla Ballesteros have completed externships with the clinic while enrolled at the adult school. They now work as front desk agents and medical assistants for All Valley Urgent Care.

The health science program prepares students for the medical field by teaching biological processes, health disorders, ethical responsibilities, and more.

“To qualify to intern with All Valley Urgent Care, the student must have strong grades and be enrolled in the third-year of the CTE Patient Care pathway,” explains Beaumont USD College & Career Coordinator Susanna Aguilar-Martinez. “The interns will be responsible for over a dozen entry-level tasks, such as prepping rooms, scheduling appointments, and keeping the facilities clean. We expect them to take initiative and keep busy.”

In return, the students receive mentoring by licensed medical staff and class credit.

“I have a very high expectation of how my staff behaves and treats people. It doesn’t matter how bad of a day you’re having. You can make somebody else's day better by acknowledging them and making them feel welcome here,” Tankersley said.

Beaumont USD’s partnership with All Valley Urgent Care - Calimesa follows the District’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for successful careers long after graduation. As part of this initiative, the District offers professional skills-building programs during the school year
and summer months.
