Hail, 'Significant Flooding' Come Down On Beaumont, Banning [UPDATED]

BEAUMONT, CA — A summer thunderstorm has made its way into Beaumont and Banning, leaving being flooded roadways, downed trees and chaos. Police are urging residents to stay home if they don't have to be anywhere in particular, to ride out the storm.
Beaumont police tell Patch they've received multiple reports of trees in the roadways and flooded streets. They are currently deploying to locations all throughout town to verify reports and assess possible closures.
"Update as of 5:30pm, avoid the areas of 8th and Maple, as well as Highland Springs Avenue and the I10 freeway, there is significant flooding in both of these locations," the Beaumont Police Department wrote on Facebook.

The National Weather Service says a flood advisory was in effect for the area. Winds up to 60 mph were possible. Though a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was set to expire at 5:15 p.m., the rains continued to come down after that.
Several new storms are also forming near Banning and Mt.San Gorgonio.

"A weather system that moved into the area has caused some flooding and downed trees," police continued. "There are several areas of concern throughout the city, crews are still assessing. Please drive carefully and avoid heading out if it isn't necessary."
