Big Bear Bald Eagles Welcome Second Egg After Tragedy Earlier In Nesting Season
A third egg could arrive on Monday.

BIG BEAR, CA — Big Bear’s beloved bald eagle couple, Jackie and Shadow, are starting over with a pair of newly laid eggs after tragedy befell their nest earlier in the mating season, when their eggs were eaten by ravens.
The two ravens attacked and devoured the eggs on Jan. 30 as about 20,000 viewers watched in horror via the nest’s livestream. With the attack coming early in the nesting season, hope remained that Jackie could lay a replacement clutch of eggs, Jenny Voisard, media manager for Friends of Big Bear Valley, told Patch at the time.
Jackie laid a new egg on Tuesday afternoon and followed that up with a second egg on Friday evening, according to the Friends of Big Bear Valley and Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam Facebook page.

“Jackie has always laid her eggs 3 days apart, so if she is expecting a 3rd egg, we can watch for that Monday,” according to a post from the page on Friday, announcing the second egg.
