Rescued but Good Chance Will Need New Home FAST
Stray, Lost Dog: Dog Needing New Home
Good Monday morning, I know we all dislike Mondays.
My Monday starts off with mixed emotion. Over the sweltering weekend we had spotted a male small dog that was either abandoned or a lost stray that was frequenting the vacant house in the north Banning area behind us.
With temperatures in the triple digits I was worried for the animal's safety as it was severely underweight and I was afraid it would not survive the heat. I placed a large container of water out for him and a bowl of food in the shade for him on Saturday. I had called Banning animal hospital who referred me to Beaumont P.D.

Beaumont P.D. sent the volunteer personnel out and we tried to catch the dog. I took off and we were chasing it up and down the street in the heat. Time was running out and the animal service truck had to return to unload the animals previously picked up before the end of the day.
Sunday morning the food was gone. The dog had returned but as soon as it laid eyes on me it disappeared before my eyes.

I enclosed the area and left a way in or out for him because I was unsure if he left the yard or not. I refilled the food and water and kept an eye out for him.
Monday the bowl was empty and I had spotted a glimpse of him so I went to the house and sealed the exits.
Animal services were called and they were on their way and I stayed there to keep the dog in view. The dog was captured and is now being taken to the shelter.
It was a tough decision to make but it had to be done. Perhaps if he has owners they can find him better than roaming the street. Perhaps if he is chipped he can be reunited. The dog had NO collar.
But there is a good chance it will need a new home and due to pet over population it may not be at the shelter very long, maybe hours.
The number we had to contact for them to pick the dog up was Beaumont P.D. (951)769-8500. Perhaps if you are interested in providing a loving responsible home you can inquire where the dog was taken.
The Beaumont City web page for lost animals ://www.ci.beaumont.ca.us/index.aspx?NID=222 gives a shelter but I am unsure if this was the shelter this dog went too. The dog was picked up about 10:20 a.m. Monday April 23, 2012
Hurry! He has been rescued but good chance will need new home FAST.
