SCWXA Santa Ana Wind Advisory Extended Through Saturday

The Santa Ana Wind Advisory issued at the beginning of the week is closing tonight, but It will need to be extended through Saturday.

The Southern California Weather Authority has extended a
SANTA ANA WIND ADVISORY effective tonight through Saturday ...

The Santa Ana Wind Advisory issued at the beginning of the week is closing tonight.  It will need to be extended through Saturday, making this one of the most prolonged advisories I've ever issued in the area.

Gusty pass and canyon winds continue through the night, with the east wind finally developing. This will allow areas like Hemet and Lake Perris zones to get in on the winds, where they were left out for the entire north wind event over the last several days.

Because this is an east wind event; or drainage winds, the Banning/Beaumont zones will see gusts similar to to to Thursday, with gusts of 30 to even 40 mph possible.

These will make driving on the freeway hazardous for high profile vehicles.

These winds are going to be on the warmer side.  So with that being said, the combination of dry/warm air with gusty wind conditions will place the area under a moderate fire risk, thus this is a Fire Weather Watch, and/or low grade Fire Weather Warning.
