What Budget Crisis?

7:23 pm on a rainy Friday night and I'm driving by the high school stadium with my family. The high powered stadium lights were all on. We didn't see any cars in the well lit parking lots and there wasn't a person in sight. So we started wondering what was going on. My 10 year old daughter suggested that since the district spent $20,000,000 on the sports complex the lights were on so no one visiting Beaumont could miss the stadium. My wife suggested the lights were being used to dry out the field. As I continued down Brookside Ave, I thought the city council must have worked a deal with the new BUSD Head of Maintenance to light Brookside Ave with the stadium lights. But once I was a few hundred yards away and back in the darkness of Brookside I realized there must be some other reason. Any ideas?
