MORONGO, CA — A rock 'n' roll legend is coming to Riverside County. Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson will be performing at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa next month, it was announced Thursday.

The 79-year-old singer-songwriter will appear Thursday, Sept. 16, and he is expected to bring his library of top hits that span five decades.

Known for creating the indelible “California sound,” Wilson is considered one the most influential singer-songwriters in rock 'n' roll history.

The Beach Boys released a slew of top hits, but it was the band's 1966 album “Pet Sounds” that is regarded as one of the greatest of all time. In 2004, the platinum album was preserved in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

Wilson's honors include inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of the Beach Boys) and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, as well as two Grammy Awards.

In June, a documentary based on Wilson’s life, “Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road,” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and in July he announced upcoming tour dates. The film's release and Wilson's return to the road follow his decades-long battle with mental health issues that he still contends with.

“Brian Wilson is truly a music legend and we are absolutely delighted that he is going to perform the quintessential Southern California songs we all know and love at Morongo,” said Simon Farmer, Morongo’s executive director of marketing. “I imagine everyone will be singing along.”

Tickets for the show range from $59 to $99 and are available via Ticketmaster. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. For information, visit morongocasinoresort.com.
