BANNING, CA — The Banning High School Broadway Broncos recently performed the production of The Lion King Jr., at the Banning High School Performing Arts Center. The multi-day performance showcased the incredible talent, collaboration, and dedication of students from across the District.

Families, friends and local audiences had multiple opportunities to experience the production, with performances held over the weekend. "Each show brought the Pride Lands to life through vibrant music,
choreography, and storytelling," district spokesperson Angel Mead said. "This year’s production was especially meaningful as it brought together students from elementary, middle, and high school sites across the District, creating a unified and collaborative experience that highlighted mentorship, growth, and community.

"From detailed character costumes to imaginative representations of animals such as giraffes and elephants, students showcased both creativity and craftsmanship," Mead said. "The stage was further transformed through the construction of iconic elements like Pride Rock, creating an immersive theatrical experience that captured the spirit and visual richness of the story."

"Student leadership played a central role in the success of this production, with students taking ownership across nearly every aspect of the show," according to Mead. "From lighting design and audio engineering to stage management, costume coordination, and front-of-house operations, students led with professionalism and pride. Actors brought the story to life on stage while technical crews worked behind the scenes to ensure seamless transitions, sound, and visual effects. Student ushers also helped create a welcoming and organized experience for guests. This level of student involvement not only strengthened the production but also provided valuable, real-world experience in theatre arts, collaboration, and leadership."
