Bye Puts Beaumont In Second Round Of CIF Water Polo Playoffs
The Cougars will meet Chadwick High in a Division 6 matchup Saturday.

It’s as if the first round didn’t exist – perhaps that’s how good Beaumont’s girl’s water polo team is?
Nine teams in the CIF Division 6 playoffs were given first-round byes, including the Cougars and their first opponent, Rancho Palos Verdes Chadwick. Beaumont, the Mountain Pass League champion, will meet Chadwick, the Prep League champ, Saturday in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Hemet, the Mountain Pass League’s second place team hosts Santa Monica in a first-round matchup.

The CIF Girls Water Polo playoffs begin Tuesday with wild-card games in some divisions. First round games in Division 6 are Thursday at 5 p.m. Winners advance to the second round on Saturday. The CIF Finals are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Aquatics Center in Irvine.
The top four seeds in the division are Warren, Pasadena Poly, Cerritos and La Quinta. Pairings were announced Sunday at the CIF offices in Los Alamitos.

Should Palm Desert win Thursday at Garden Grove Pacifica, the Aztecs then draw third-seeded Cerritos Saturday. Desert Valley League champion La Quinta has a first-round bye, as did DVL runner-up Palm Springs.
The San Gabriel Valley League, however, made quite a splash in Division 6, as they have two teams seeded, including No. 1 seed Downey Warren and Cerritos.
Cerritos, the second-place team from the San Gabriel Valley League, is one of nine teams that earned a first-round bye in Division 6. Downey Warren High, the SGVL champion, is the top seed in the division.
