In 1911, pilot Calbraith Perry Rodgers landed on Stewart Ranch in the San Gorgonio Pass on his way to completing the first transcontinental flight from New York to Long Beach. His biplane, “Vin Fiz,” was built by the Wright Brothers, and Rodgers was competing for a $50,000 prize offered by William Randolph Hearst. On Thursday, April 9, the San Gorgonio Pass Historical Society will explore this historic adventure and the role the pass played in the final leg of the flight. The program is free and open to all!

Location: Beaumont Woman’s Club Community Center, 306 E. 6th Street, Beaumont
