Child Pornography Charge Lodged Against Upland Man, Again

Jacob Kauffman, 54, is due in court Monday.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA — An Upland man who was previously convicted of possession of child pornography is due in court, accused of recommitting the same crime again.

Jacob Kauffman, 54, is being held without bail at West Valley Jail in Rancho Cucamonga and was scheduled to appear Monday.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Kauffman showed up at the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center at 18000 Institution Road in San Bernardino shortly after 10 a.m. March 4. There, he was set to enroll in the electronic confinement program. He was previously sentenced to 180 days in jail for the child pornography charge and was eligible for the county's jail weekend/work release program.

During Kauffman's check-in, deputies reviewed his court paperwork and felony probation terms. The documents stated that Kauffman had to comply with all laws and submit to searches and seizures of his electronic devices, according to the sheriff's department.

Kauffman's terms also stated "he could not own, use, or possess any form of sexually explicit movie videos, material, or devices," the sheriff's department stated.

During the check-in, deputies looked at Kauffman's cell phone and allegedly found sexually explicit photos attached to his emails.

"These photographs depicted images of nude females that appeared to be young in age," according to the sheriff's department.

Kauffman was arrested for the alleged probation violation. If he is found guilty, it's not immediately clear what his sentence would be.
