City Holds Off On Closing Potrero Boulevard

A months-long closure was scheduled to begin Monday.

BEAUMONT, CA — A months-long closure slated to begin Monday on a Beaumont thoroughfare has been delayed. City officials announced the decision Monday.

The closure was slated on Potrero Boulevard between Oak Valley Parkway and Western Knolls. Officials said it's necessary as construction work continues on the Potrero Interchange over State Route 60. The intersection will eventually be realigned and underground utilities need to be laid.

"The delay of the re-alignment project will allow the City of Beaumont and project contractors to develop a plan to shorted the closure duration and reduce the impact to local residents and businesses," the city said in a press release.

"Potrero Boulevard and Western Knolls Avenue will remain open until a new construction start date has been determined, tentatively scheduled for late April," the city said.
