Convictions Handed Down In $2M Cargo Theft Operation Targeting SoCal Logistics Hubs, Including In IE

LOS ANGELES — Two men have been convicted in federal court for their roles in a $2 million cargo theft operation that targeted logistics hubs across Southern California, including Inland Empire warehouses in Chino, Fontana, Perris and Moreno Valley, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

A federal jury found Arshpreet Singh, 28, of Sacramento, and Vikramjeet Singh, 31, of Fontana, guilty of conspiracy to commit theft from interstate or foreign shipments. Arshpreet Singh was also convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, while Vikramjeet Singh was acquitted on the wire fraud charge.

It's unclear whether the two men are related.

According to evidence presented during the seven-day trial, the defendants operated a scheme from March 2024 to June 2025 that relied on buying or fraudulently acquiring legitimate freight carriers. Using those companies to bid on authentic shipping contracts through brokers such as Uber Freight, the co-conspirators took possession of high-value cargo loads and diverted them instead of delivering them to their destinations.

The stolen goods — which included televisions, laptops, appliances, solar panels, shoes, and tires — were stolen from distribution facilities across Riverside, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles counties, as well as Grand Prairie, Texas. Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigators assisted federal authorities in tracking thefts from warehouses in Perris and Moreno Valley. Nearby Inland Empire hubs in Fontana and Chino were also among the targeted locations.

In one instance highlighted by prosecutors, Arshpreet Singh purchased Texas-based Z&F Transportation LLC for $22,000 in March 2024. Weeks later, a co-conspirator operating under the company's name picked up a load of televisions in Fontana destined for Florida that was never delivered. In another instance, the group bought Skyways Trucking LLC in May 2024 to execute similar thefts of electronics and solar equipment.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Inland Violent Crime Suppression Task Force, IRS Criminal Investigation, and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, along with sheriff's departments in San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties and local police agencies.

U.S. District Judge Anne Hwang scheduled sentencing hearings for Jan. 20, 2027. Arshpreet Singh faces up to 20 years in federal prison, while Vikramjeet Singh faces up to five years.
