Coronavirus: Closures, Cancelled Events In Banning And Beaumont

The updated list of venues and services closed, cancelled or partially shut down in Banning and Beaumont due to coronavirus.

UPDATED AT 7:30 P.M. MARCH 18, 2020:

BANNING/BEAUMONT, CA — Here is the latest on coronavirus stats and orders from Riverside County Public Health, as well as an update on closures in Banning and Beaumont.

Death toll: 3 patients in Coachella Valley

As of March 16, countywide, public gatherings of 10 or more people were ordered cancelled. The order issued by Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser also states that gatherings with fewer than 10 people must have enough available room to maintain six feet of space between attendees — known as "social distancing."

The March 16 "10-person" order does not apply to courts; medical providers; public utilities; critical city, county and special district operations; logistics/distribution centers; congregate living settings; daycare and childcare; shelters; public transportation; air travel; or necessary shopping at gas stations, stores, or malls.

The order extends through April 30.

Information for both cities:

Police and fire: Services continue uninterrupted, but access to stations is restricted (see below)

Schools: All Riverside County schools are ordered closed through April 30. Remote learning and other forms of distance education can continue.

Stores: Many remain open.

Restaurants: Pick-up and drive-thru remain open; in-restaurant dining is governed by the March 16 order, which requires social distancing. Call your favorite restaurant ahead of time to find out if they are serving in.

Veterinarians: Veterinary offices and hospitals may remain open but are required to follow the "10-person" rule.

Animal shelters: Open but social distancing is in place.

Riverside County: County buildings are closed to in-person visits, but most services are available online and via phone.

Casinos: Closed

CLOSURES/CANCELLATIONS, PARTIAL SHUTDOWNS ORDERED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:

Customer Service Desk – The Beaumont Civic Center and the Albert A. Chatigny Sr. Community Recreation Center are closed to walk-in customers. Utility payments may be made online or can be placed in the drop box located at the Civic Center parking lot. Passport services will be suspended until further notice. The city's full customer service team is available by phone at 951-769-8520.

Police Department – Police services continue uninterrupted, but the Beaumont Police Department lobby is closed. Individuals in need of assistance are asked to utilize the call box located at the entrance to the lobby. Livescan services are suspended until further notice. Residents may utilize the non-emergency phone number at 951-769-8500 for questions. There is no impact to 911 Emergency service.

Community Recreation Center – All recreation programs, including Day Camp and Senior Center, are suspended until further notice. Customer service representatives are available by phone at 951-769-8524.

Field Operations – Maintenance crews for parks, streets and wastewater will continue their regular duties. Public service requests may be submitted online at BeaumontCa.gov and will be prioritized to limit exposure to city employees.

Building Permits and Inspections – The building permit window will be closed to the public. Permits may be submitted online or by mail. Inspectors will only conduct site walkthroughs if the sites/areas to be inspected are cleared. Customer service representatives are available by phone at 951-769-8529.

Beaumont Transit – Reduced schedules have been implemented on multiple routes. Check schedules here.
