Coronavirus Hospitalizations Climb Across Riverside County
About 20 percent of the county's hospitalized coronavirus patients are in intensive care units.
RIVERSIDE, CA — The number of COVID patients hospitalized in Riverside County has risen by 24, increasing from 228 to 252, according to Friday's state figures.
Of those patients, 60 were in intensive care, up from 57 on Thursday.
The latest figures come two days after the county reported 334 new cases of COVID-19 and 28 new virus-related deaths, bringing its cumulative totals to 374,058 cases and 5,423 deaths since the pandemic began.

The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can date back a month or longer.
The number of known active virus cases countywide Wednesday was 3,575 - - down 247 from Tuesday, according to the Riverside University Health System. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total -- 374,058 -- according to the county's Executive Office.

Verified patient recoveries countywide were 365,060.
County health officials did not report cases or deaths Thursday or Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
