Coroner IDs Woman Who Died After Being Ejected Onto 215 Freeway
The victim was a passenger in an erratically driven vehicle that slammed into the center divider and overturned, according to reports.
PERRIS, CA — A Moreno Valley woman was killed early Sunday morning after a sedan driven recklessly crashed on the northbound Escondido (215) Freeway, ejecting her and flipping the vehicle, authorities reported.
The crash occurred around 12:22 a.m. along Interstate 215, south of Harley Knox Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators said a black sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly before slamming into the center divider and overturning.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Valerie Martinez of Moreno Valley. She was a passenger in the vehicle and was ejected during the collision and pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP issued a SigAlert shutting down all northbound lanes of the freeway while officers conducted an investigation and cleared debris from the roadway. Caltrans and law enforcement advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

The crash remains under investigation by the CHP. No arrests were immediately announced.
