The crash involved a semi-truck and a minivan, according to fire reports.

BANNING, CA — Banning police are investigating a deadly crash in town after two vehicles collided in a local parking lot. Riverside County fire officials say the wreck happened around 5:15 p.m. Thursday.

The fire department says they were called to the scene in the 300 block of Highland Springs Avenue after a semi-truck and a minivan crashed. That's in the Sun Lakes Shopping Center, just south of Interstate 10.

"The first arriving engine company reported the sole occupant of the mini van had perished at the scene," Tawny Cabral of the Riverside County Fire Department said.
