Disc Golf Tourney to Benefit MDA

The June 11 event will be held at the Oak Valley Park

Disc golf enthusiasts have a chance to test their skills during the first Disc Golf Tournament, presented by the city of Beaumont and the Oak Valley Disc Golf Club.

The event is set for Saturday, June 11, with proceeds going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

An entry fee of $25 includes a disc, t-shirt and lunch. Check-in is scheduled for 7:30 a.m, with a player meeting at 8:45 a.m. and tee off at 9 a.m.

Interested parties can sign up in advance at the Chatigny Community Center, 1310 Oak Valley Parkway, Beaumont, or on tournament day at Oak Valley Park, on the corner of Oak View Drive and Iris in Beaumont.

Disc golf is a game where players throw flying discs into a basket, trying to reach the targets in as few throws as possible.

According to its Facebook page, the Oak Valley Disc Golf Club was formed to promote and support the local disc golf community. Players of all ages are welcome to join, and participate in events in Beaumont, Redlands, Palm Desert and other nearby cities.
