Fire Erupts When Semi-Truck Topples In Beaumont

Traffic stalled Wednesday night as emergency officials battled a brush fire on Westbound Highway 60.

BEAUMONT, CA — A big rig toppled Wednesday evening, blocking all westbound lanes of Highway 60 through Beaumont, emergency officials reported.

Just before 7:45 p.m., a semi-truck tipped onto its side, spilling diesel fuel and sparking a quarter-acre brush fire, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department statement.

No one was injured in this incident, according to reports.

Firefighters made quick work of quelling the blaze. At the same time, Riverside County Environmental Health officers and the Hazardous Materials Teams were called to the scene to manage the leaking fuel that spilled into the roadway.

The westbound 60 was shut down until after 10 p.m. due to the cleanup.
