I-15 Reopens, Fire Contained At SR-60 [UPDATED]
BREAKING: The fire is leading to major congestion on Interstate 15 and SR-60.
UPDATE 9:20 A.M. — The 15 freeway is now open to traffic, as crews say they have a handle on a blaze burning nearby.
"Interstate 15 (I-15) at State Route 60 (SR-60) fire contained," Caltrans said on Twitter around 9:15 a.m. "All lanes on north and south I-15 and east and westbound SR-60 are lanes open. However, the southbound I-15 connector to eastbound SR-60 is still closed to remove an overturned big rig."
The three-acre brush fire broke out Thursday morning near the interchange of Interstate 15 and the 60 Freeway in Jurupa Valley, but firefighters were able to halt the flames before they spread to nearby businesses. The fire was reported at 7:16 a.m. near the intersection of Wineville Road and Riverside Drive, south of the 60 Freeway and east of the 15 Freeway.

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A brush fire burning along both sides of an area freeway has been reported this morning in the Jurupa Valley area, leading to traffic back-ups nearby. The fire was first reported at 7:16 a.m. in the area of the 60 and 15 freeways, according to Cal Fire and CHP logs. The 15 has since been closed both northbound and southbound.
According to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol, the fire has prompted officials to close I-15 northbound at Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road. Caltrans said at 7:58 a.m. that the southbound side of the freeway was also closed. What's more, officials are concerned that businesses are at risk.
"The fire is threatening businesses along I15 south of Highway 60," the Riverside County Fire Department said.
An overturned big rig has also been reported in the area, and it's not yet clear if that's what sparked the blaze.
