Firefighters Stop Spread Of Brush Fire In Cabazon
Officials lifted a brief evacuation warning for the Elm Fire, which began at Ida Avenue and Peach Street, according to Cal Fire.

CABAZON, CA — Firefighters continued to clear containment lines and put out hot spots Sunday around a 65-acre brush fire in Cabazon after they stopped its forward spread.
As of Sunday morning, the Elm Fire, which began at Ida Avenue and Peach Street, was 40% contained, according to Cal Fire.
The fire was reported around 9:20 a.m. Saturday and arriving crews found the blaze burning at a dangerous rate of spread amid winds of 5 to 10 mph, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

As of 2:30 p.m. Saturday the fire had burned 65 acres, but the forward rate of spread was stopped.
A brief evacuation warning that was issued for the area east of Magnolia Street, north of Hurley Flats Road, west of Almond Street and south of Esperanza Avenue. It was lifted Saturday afternoon.

The cause of the fire was not known.
A wind advisory will be in effect until 3 p.m. Sunday in the Riverside County mountains, where gusts were expected to reach 40 to 55 mph. A red flag warning was in effect until 3 p.m. in the valleys, with gusty winds and low humidity creating elevated fire danger.
