Fugitive From Banning Barricade In Custody
After being on the lam with an hours-long police standoff, the 33-year-old was apprehended, according to officials.

BANNING, CA – A fugitive, who allegedly spent days on the run followed by a 12-hour standoff with law enforcement, was arrested Tuesday in Banning, according to authorities.
James Britton, 33, was arrested at a home on the 1200 block of Wyte Way, where police say he holed up with acquaintances after fleeing from police last weekend, the Banning Police Department said.
Britton was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, making terrorist threats and exhibiting a deadly weapon, and was being held without bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, according to county jail records.

He also had a felony warrant for his arrest out of Los Angeles County, police said.
Britton was wanted for reportedly assaulting and threatening a woman, leading officers to respond at about 8 a.m. Saturday to a home in the 2200 block of West Ramsey Street, Banning police said. However, the suspect fled the home before officers arrived, was located a few blocks away, but ran from officers into a home in the 3900 block of West Ramsey Street, police said.

There, a nearly 12-hour standoff ensued and ended when police entered the home and discovered the suspect had escaped, though a stolen handgun was found inside, they said.
After an anonymous tip, the agency learned Britton was possibly hiding inside a Banning residence, harbored by friends.
On Tuesday, detectives from the Banning Police Department and the Riverside County Gang Impact Team surrounded the Wyte Way home, and "moments later, Britton emerged from the residence and was taken into custody without incident," police said.
Britton is expected to appear in court Thursday.
