Heat Advisory Issued For Pass Area By National Weather Service

SAN GORGONIO PASS AREA, CA — Hot daytime conditions and above-average overnight temperatures will prevail in Banning and Beaumont starting Thursday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory for the area.

The advisory is in effect from noon Thursday until 8 p.m. Saturday across western Riverside County, southwestern San Bernardino County, as well as Orange and San Diego counties.

"Hot conditions will peak Thursday through Saturday — hottest conditions will be in the Inland Empire. Highs there will be in the upper 90s to 104 degrees," according to the NWS. "The combination of hot daytime conditions and above-average overnight temperatures in the 70s will increase the heat risk over the area."

While daytime high temperatures in the Pass Area are only expected to reach the mid-90s during the heat wave, muggy conditions are forecast, according to the NWS.

Monsoonal moisture is expected to increase Thursday and peak on Saturday, according to the NWS. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms is in Temecula's forecast during the heat wave, with chances increasing Friday and Saturday in the afternoons and evenings, although the likeliest places for wet weather are in the mountains and deserts, the NWS reported.
