High Wind Advisory In Banning, San Gorgonio Pass Area, Deserts

PASS AREA, CA — Batten down the hatches, Banning and Beaumont residents. A high wind advisory is in effect through Thursday, according to National Weather Service San Diego meteorologists. Residents of Banning, Beaumont, Wrightwood, Desert Hot Springs, Borrego Springs and others.

"A wind advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday, with west winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour and gusts of up to 55 mph expected," they said. "Some gusts of up to 65 mph may occur."

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and there is potential for downed tree limbs, and even a few power outages as a result.

"The strongest winds will be on the desert mountain slopes and through the passes and canyons," they said.

Meteorologists warned that strong winds can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Drivers should use extra caution during wind events.

The National Weather Service forecast for the Pass Area is as follows:

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 75. East wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. North wind around 5 mph becoming west after midnight.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 74. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46. Southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 67. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 44.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 64.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 46.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 67. Breezy.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51.
