NWS Downgrades Wind Forecast: Riverside County

A wind advisory remains in effect.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Winds that blew through Riverside County much of Monday morning and into the afternoon subsided, although the National Weather Service said a wind advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Locally gusty winds will continue through and below passes and canyons and along some of the western foothills as late as early Tuesday morning, according to the NWS.

Winds were forecast Monday to reach speeds between 25 to 35 mph, with isolated gusts of 65 mph possible along mountain ridge tops. Forecasters provided updates Monday stating that northeast winds would clock in slower through the early evening — 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Into to Tuesday, wind speeds should only reach 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph, forecasters said.
