IE Man Arrested For Hit-And-Run That Injured Student In RivCo: Police

RIVERSIDE, CA — A 47-year-old man suspected of striking and injuring a high school student with his vehicle before fleeing the scene in Riverside was arrested, authorities said Friday.

Pablo Rodriguez of Bloomington, in San Bernardino County, was booked into Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of a felony hit-and- run, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Bail information was not immediately available.

Officers responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian shortly before 3:40 p.m. Sept. 4 at the intersection of Victoria and Myrtle avenues.

The agency stated that multiple callers reportedly saw a vehicle hit a Poly High School student and flee the area. Paramedics arrived a short time later and took the student, whose identity was not revealed, to a local hospital. The severity of the pedestrian's injuries was not immediately known.

Investigators identified Rodriguez as the suspect after reviewing information from community members and data from automated license plate-reader systems.

Officers found the suspect's vehicle unoccupied and was impounded for evidence. Rodriguez was contacted by detectives, and turned himself in on Thursday, police said.
