Inmate Found Dead Inside Riverside County Jail Cell
Sheriff's officials reported the death Monday, and are performing an autopsy to determine the cause.

An inmate was found dead in their cell at the downtown Riverside jail this weekend, but it's not yet clear what led to the death, sheriff's officials reported Monday.
According to sheriff's Sergeant Flores, the unidentified person was found Sunday afternoon when deputies performing a security check noticed the inmate was unresponsive.
"Deputies immediately began rendering emergency first aid and summoned on-site medical professionals, as well as emergency medical services," Flores said. "Despite the life-saving efforts, the inmate was pronounced deceased."

The person was housed in an individual cell, and no foul play is suspected, according to the sergeant, who added that officials were performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
"Additionally, investigators from the Professional Standards Bureau also responded, which is standard protocol for in custody deaths," he said.
