Investigation Launched After Transient Arrested In RivCo Dies In Custody: Sheriff

The man had been arrested in Riverside for felony outstanding warrants from San Bernardino County, officials said.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA — An investigation has been launched after a transient who was arrested in Riverside on an outstanding warrant died at a hospital after he was housed at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, officials said.

Chris Allan Robinson, 69, was pronounced dead at a hospital on Tuesday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Robinson had been arrested in Riverside for an outstanding felony warrant from San Bernardino County and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center on Feb. 16.

Officials said Robinson was housed in a medical unit while he was suffering from a serious medical condition that he was receiving treatment for throughout his incarceration.

Robinson's condition worsened and he was transported to a hospital for further care on Feb. 28. He was admitted to and remained at the hospital where he died, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
