Las Vegas Woman Suspected Of Smuggling Drugs Into Banning Jail: RSO

BANNING, CA — A 35-year-old Nevada woman was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of conspiring to smuggle methamphetamine to an inmate at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

Sabrina Triguero of Las Vegas was arrested and booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center for alleged drug trafficking. Bail information was not immediately available.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, its Corrections Investigations Bureau began a probe in January after uncovering evidence "members of the public were working with inmates to smuggle narcotics ... via the U.S. Postal Service."

The investigation ultimately pointed to Triguero and 40-year-old Nancy N. Dominguez of Rialto as the alleged conspirators, coordinating shipments to the jail, where Dominguez was locked up for alleged offenses, sheriff's Sgt. Matt Posson said.

Sufficient evidence was gathered to procure an arrest warrant for Triguero, who was taken into custody without incident Tuesday by North Las Vegas Police Department personnel at her home in the 3000 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard, Posson said.

"During a search of the residence, officers seized over a half ounce of suspected meth, and evidence related to the jail narcotics smuggling investigation was located," he said.

Dominguez was notified of the allegations against her at the jail.

The case has been submitted to the District Attorney's Office with a request for felony charges.
