BANNING, CA — A person was hit by a train on the tracks in Banning Wednesday morning, the police department tells Patch. The incident happened on the tracks near San Gorgonio Avenue.
According to police, they received a call of a pedestrian struck by an eastbound train at 10:33 a.m. First responders were on scene within three minutes, and found a man suffering from major injuries.
The man was rushed to the hospital, but an update on his condition was not immediately available.

Union Pacific Railroad is investigating the incident and reminded residents to "be aware of the hazards associated with trains" and to only cross the tracks at designated crossings when signals permit.
