Mentone Murder Suspect Leads Police on Chase Into Riverside

A pursuit ensued through Mentone and Yucaipa and continued onto Interstates 10 and 215, police said.

RIVERSIDE, CA - A murder suspect led sheriff's deputies on a pursuit that started in Mentone and ended in Riverside, officials said Sunday.

Christopher Fisher, 32, a transient, was suspected of killing a woman whose body was found inside a garage on Saturday when authorities were conducting a welfare check in the 30900 block of Moss Street in Mentone, said John McMahon of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators identified Fisher as the suspect and were told that he had stolen the victim's car.

Deputies later located the vehicle in the 31000 block of Nice Avenue in Mentone and said they observed Fisher getting into it. When they attempted to pull Fisher over, he drove off, deputies said.

A pursuit ensued through Mentone and Yucaipa and continued onto Interstates 10 and 215. The pursuit ended when Fisher crashed into a curb at Chicago Avenue and Third Street in Riverside.

He attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken to the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino where he was booked on suspicion of murder.

Authorities did not release the name of the victim.
