Moreno Valley Brushfire Forces Evacuation of Campers
The fire started around 8 p.m. Wednesday and by 10 p.m. park rangers evacuated campers in Lake Perris State Park.

A 175-acre brushfire burned in Moreno Valley on Wednesday night, forcing evacuation of a group of campers.
The fire was reported around 8:40 p.m. near the intersection of Merwin Street and Campbell Avenue, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The campers in Lake Perris State Park were evacuated around 10 p.m., Hagemann said.
The blaze had spread to 40 acres by 9:40 p.m. and to 175 acres by 11 p.m., with 240 firefighters on scene, Hagemann said.
