The man, who has not yet been identified, was killed after witnesses say he ran a red light, struck another car and then a brick wall.

RIVERSIDE, CA —A 34-year-old motorist was killed today when he went through a red light at a Riverside intersection and collided with another vehicle whose driver sustained minor injuries, police reported. The collision happened about 9:45 a.m. at Campus Parkway and DayStreet, on the extreme southeast edge of the city, according to Riversidepolice Sgt. Erich Feimer.
He said the fatally injured motorist, whose name was not immediately released, was headed westbound on Campus in his 2009 Dodge Avenger and drove straight through a red signal at Day, impacting a 2018 Ford Focus driven by a 51-year-old Moreno Valley man going south. After pushing the Focus sideways, the Dodge careened into a decorative brick wall at the southwest corner of the intersection, according to the Sergeant.
The Dodge driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt, suffered catastrophic injuries to which he succumbed minutes after being transported toRiverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley, Feimer said. Drugs and alcohol have not been ruled out as possible factors in the crash, according to the sergeant. The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries, but there was no word on whether he was hospitalized.
