Police said the driver fled the scene and was found later by authorities.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A motorist who was allegedly drunk at the wheel slammed into a senior driving through a Riverside intersection, inflicting fatal injuries, then fled the scene before being quickly apprehended, authorities said Friday.

The fatal crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday at Adams Street and California Avenue, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Jose Angel Campos Andrade, 30, was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail hours later on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in death and felony DUI. Bail information was unavailable Friday.

Hunt was taken in grave condition to Riverside Community Hospital downtown, where she succumbed to her injuries four hours later.

"Upon contacting the driver, officers observed objective signs and symptoms consistent with alcohol intoxication," Espinosa said.

Andrade was taken into custody without incident.

The case was expected to be submitted to the Riverside County District Attorney's Office for review Monday, unless the suspect posts bond over the weekend.
