Outstanding Banning High School Students Honored

From Banning High School Principal Matt Valdivia: This is truly a week to celebrate. The annual awards season is officially open. Some of our top students at Banning High School are being recognized this week.

On Wednesday April 25, 2018 BUSD Superintendent Robert Guillen, School Board Members Anne Price and Kerri Mariner, Counselor Philip Takacs and Janelle Poulter, and Principal Matt Valdivia attended the 13th Annual Riverside County Student Academic Awards Dinner at the Riverside Convention Center honoring the top outstanding academic students in Riverside County.

Recognized from Banning High School as the top two students are: Melody McNair and Colleen Lagazo.

On Wednesday April 25, 2018 Assistant Principal Lanell Hardy, Interim Athletic Director Qua'sand Lewis, School Board President Alex Cassadas, and School Board Clerk Alfredo Andrade attended the 2018 Mountain Valley League Scholar Athlete of the Year Dinner at the Indian Springs Golf Resort in Riverside.

Banning High School's 2018 recipients are: Maria Rocha, Christian Mariscal, Rosa Perez, and Patrick Quintero Fuentes. Each student has a cumulative grade point average (GPA) above 3.5 and has participated in multiple sports in their 4 year high school career. Great job to all of these students we are proud of you! A picture of them is attached.

On Friday April 27, 2018 at the Historic Riverside Courthouse in Downtown Riverside, California the Annual Riverside County Bar Association will present its 2018 Good Citizenship Award. 12 Banning High School juniors were nominated and became finalists. Staff and student voting was then conducted.

I am pleased and honored to announce Banning High School's RCBA 2018 Good Citizenship Award honoree is Aliyah Amis. Congratulations to Aliyah we are extremely proud of her.
