Pass Area Under Flash Flood Warning

BREAKING: National Weather Service officials say the heaviest band of rain of the storm is slamming the region.

BEAUMONT, CA — Pass Area residents are urged to prepare for possible flooding and other storm-related hazards as a storm makes its way through the region Thursday morning.

At 10:36 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for the area. A map of the region impacted by the warning is above. The warning is in effect until 1:30 p.m. A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect, until 6 p.m.

"Heaviest rain band moving from Cajon Pass to Santa Ana mountains, Urban and Small stream flood advisory in effort for low lying flooding, urban street flooding and for sharp rises on creeks coming from the foothills, up to 2 inches of rain in the 3 hours around Devore," the NWS tweeted around 10:30 a.m.

As of 10 a.m., the storm systems over the past four days had dropped 1.64 inches of rain at the Riverside Municipal Airport, 1.61 inches in Temecula, 3.38 inches in Lake Elsinore, 6.9 inches near upper Horsethief Canyon, 2.91 inches in Idyllwild, 1.7 inches in Beaumont and .95 of an inch at the Palm Springs International Airport, according to the NWS.

Up to three-quarters of an inch of rain is forecast Thursday for the Riverside metropolitan area with around six-tenths of an inch predicted in Lake Elsinore, forecasters said. The San Gorgonio Pass near Banning could see up to eight-tenths of an inch of rain and the Coachella Valley was expected to get around one-tenth of an inch.

Snow levels are expected to remain above 8,500 feet.
