Pilot Survives Hard Landing At Riverside Municipal Airport

The single-engine Cessna 150 collapsed upon landing, the FAA said.

RIVERSIDE, CA —A small aircraft landed hard Tuesday at Riverside Municipal Airport. The nose wheel of the single-engine Cessna 150 collapsed after the plane landed at Riverside Municipal Airport around 2 p.m. local time Tuesday, Feb. 21. Only the pilot was on board, FAA spokesperson Elizabeth Cory told Patch.

He was able to self-extract from the downed craft before the fire department arrived at the scene, according to a Riverside Fire Department spokesperson.

No injuries were reported. However, a minor fuel release occurred upon impact. The leak from the aircraft was stopped and contained, according to reports.

The cause of the hard landing was not immediately clear, and the FAA will investigate the cause of the crash, they said.
