Plan Ahead! 91 Freeway to Be Closed Again This Weekend

The eastbound side will be fully closed first, while the westbound side will be shut down the following day.

CORONA, CA - The Riverside (91) Freeway will be partially shut down Thursday and Friday nights in Corona to accommodate crews working on an overpass.

The eastbound Riverside Freeway will be fully closed beginning about 11:45 p.m. Thursday at Maple Street, where a road crew will continue erecting support beams for the new Maple Street bridge, according to the Riverside County Transportation Commission.

During the closure, motorists will be detoured off the eastbound Riverside Freeway at Maple Street and routed back to the freeway via Paseo Grande. The closure will be lifted about 4 a.m. Friday, a commission official said.

On Friday night, the entire westbound side of the Riverside Freeway will be taken out of service about 11:45 p.m. for more bridge work.

Motorists will be detoured off the freeway and onto Pomona Road, then Serfas Club Drive before returning to the freeway, officials said. The closure will be lifted at 4 a.m. Saturday.

All of the work is part the $1.3 billion "91 Project Fast Forward," which began in early 2014 and involves widening the freeway between the Orange County line and Interstate 15, with new lanes and ramps, as well as additional shoulder space and expanded streets in the vicinity of the freeway.
