Plane Crashes Alongside Interstate 10 In Banning [PHOTOS, VIDEO]

BREAKING: Fire officials say two people have been transported to the hospital.

BANNING, CA — A small plane crashed in Banning on Friday, injuring the two occupants aboard, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. It was reported at 11:47 a.m.

The plane crashed alongside Interstate 10, near the eastbound Hargrave onramp. It appeared to have clipped some trees next to the freeway and landed just feet away from the busy interstate.

Two people have since been taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries, officials said. No one else was hurt.

Allen Kenitzer with the FAA says the plane was a Cessna 150 and that the FAA and the NTSB will investigate.

Officials tell Patch that the plane had taken off in Palm Springs and was headed to Banning Municipal Airport, which is close to the crash site.
