Police: Man Who Died During RivCo Burglary Was Accused Perpetrator

No one has been arrested in connection with the man's death, police said.

HEMET, CA — A man who died during an attempted break-in at a Hemet residence was the alleged burglar, and no other suspects are being sought, police said Thursday.

The fatality happened shortly after midnight on April 8 at a property in the 900 block of South Santa Fe Street, near Whittier Avenue, according to the Hemet Police Department.

The agency said 911 dispatchers received calls of a possible active burglary at a house, and patrol officers converged on the location minutes later.

"When officers arrived at the scene, they located a male down in the front yard, suffering from multiple lacerations and stab wounds," according to the police department. "Preliminary findings indicate the deceased male was the only person involved in the attempted burglary at the residence."

The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment, but he died that morning. The specific circumstances behind his death were not disclosed.

"Based on the investigation to date, there are no outstanding suspects related to this incident, and HPD investigators do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community," the agency stated.
