Pool Party Helps Beaumont, Cherry Valley Kids Fight Summer Slide

BEAUMONT, CA — About 200 youngsters and their parents celebrated the importance of summertime reading at a June 22 pool party as they frolicked at the Beaumont Plunge in Stewart Park.

Experts say students lose some of their academic gains from the school year if they don’t crack a book over the summer.

It’s called the “Summer Slide.”

As a community service, Beaumont Library is offering the 'Libraries Rock!’ Summer Reading Program.

Don’t forget … students only need to read six books over summer to be ready for classes in the fall!
